MEET MAETA
Maeta is a 23-years old rising singer known for her satiny voice and seductive take on the contemporary R&B music style with delicate touches of pop and jazz. Her work is inspired by real-life experiences, including her everyday struggles and toxic relationships, giving her a sense of 'reality' and 'relatability.'
She released her debut EP, Do Not Disturb, in 2019, after which she was signed with Roc Nation. She released her EP, Habits with Roc Nation, in 2021. Her single, Teen Scene, got her immense recognition with over 5 million streams on a popular streaming platform, Spotify.
Maeta belongs to an artist family. Her father plays the drums, and her mother is a visual artist. Sharing a similar background, her parents highly supported her creativity and encouraged her to pursue her passion from a very early age. She was fond of The Eagles and John Mayer; their work influenced her immensely.
Before becoming a singer and songwriter, she posted her music on Instagram and SoundCloud as a teenager. In 2019, Maeta moved to Los Angeles from Indianapolis to focus on her music career, where she released Do Not Disturb, her debut EP, under her label, Maeta's World Music.
The opening song of the EP, Babygirl, received love and appreciation from the masses. After her debut EP, she collaborated with Ambre for the single Color Blind. It was actually after the Teen Scene that got the attention of millions of people. She also got a featured spot on Mistletoe, a track by James Fauntleroy, which was later followed by Toxic in 2021, which featured BEAM.
She then signed with Roc Nation and released her EP, Habits, which had seven tracks, including Teen Scene and Toxic. The EP was followed by some remixes the same year, and at the end of the year, Maeta was featured on Something in the Water, Tone Stith's single. 2021 was a happening year for Maeta!
2022 was relatively slow. Maeta appeared in festivals and singles. But 2023 was huge. Maeta came back with star power like never before! She appeared on Vic Mensa's track, Strawberry Louis Vuitton, alongside Thundercat, followed by her own EP, S(EX), which included various tracks. She then released her debut album, When I Hear Your Name with Roc Notion, with 13 tracks.
Maeta's goal is simple – to be a source of positive light. She's passionate about performing live. She finds performing on stage in front of thousands of people the ultimate freedom. Her songs are full of meaning and emotions. She's a self-proclaimed daydreamer. She's naturally drawn to sad songs. She blends soul and pop styles with her heartfelt lyrics to create masterpieces that resonate with people who find expressing their emotions difficult.
Maeta has achieved a lot for her age. At just 23 years old, she already has an album and numerous hit singles and has performed live at big festivals. The future looks bright for Maeta, and she's not backing down soon!
