FLOYD FUJI IS ADDICTIVE

Floyd Fuji (Kyle Thornton), a songwriter, singer, and guitarist residing in Los Angeles, was born in Richmond and grew up in the city's skate parks, where he was influenced by the music of the Isley Brothers, D'Angelo, and Two Door Club.

The first song of Floyd Fuji, "Drama," debuted on Spotify Finds, and it got a lot of hits, causing his subsequent releases to rapidly get many views and hits.

Upon relocating to Los Angeles, he joined Kanye West's Sunday Service house band and has since worked with industry heavyweights like Tom Misch and Babyface in recording sessions.

Thornton's music began to take shape through his debut Floyd Fuji EP. It brings up memories of a bygone era. There is something nostalgic about the sound of this record that meets a vision of the future.

Floyd Fuji started in the music business at the tender age of 14. He used to play the guitar in local bands and church in Richmond, Virginia, where he was born and raised. At Berklee College of Music in 2013 (Boston), he reconnected with old friends and bandmates.

They put out two albums and performed for around four or five years before the rest of the band chose to go on once they graduated and left Boston.

Floyd Fuji began working on his solo project two years before he graduated and moved away from Boston. When it came to focusing on his inspirations, learning instruments, and studying music in a new way, it seemed like the right time for him.

Floyd Fuji relocated to Los Angeles in 2018, and things have been heating up for him. As a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, Floyd Fuji is a master at creating new universes.

He's most proud of his friends and colleagues, who always encourage him to try new things and expand his horizons. In his opinion, the musicians and artists among his buddies are some of the best people he's ever come across.

There is a unified philosophy between him and his friends. Floyd Fuji believes that his love of music and sports dedication set him apart from the rest of the pack.

Since then, he's had the opportunity to collaborate with various musicians from all walks of life who engage in different forms of music, including folk, pop, and indie.

It's his goal to build a complete sound language of different palettes. Floyd Fuji feels that being an artist is a never-ending journey. You'll hear a lot of "no's" from folks.

Time and again, you'll find yourself lacking in creativity. Assumptions will be made about you by others since everybody has an opinion.

According to Floyd Fuji, working in the music industry and as an artist isn't for the weak. Due to this, Floyd Fuji believes he can overcome obstacles by remembering his mission and his larger goal in music, which is broader than his existence and more significant than any song, video, or photo.

He believes that nothing is more important than your work to be considered an artist and to maintain and preserve your identity. In retrospect, his mission makes those obstacles seem like minor inconveniences.
