Julian Gilliam: LOGIK

It takes courage to create your own world, especially when you're on a channel connecting the audience with art. Julian Gilliam is exactly that. A visual artist originally from Ferguson, Missouri, Gilliam decided to move to Chicago permanently after graduating from Columbia College.

Gilliam knew that simply portraying a dark perspective wouldn’t seal the deal, so he made it a point to give it a silver lining. Through his work, Gilliam tries to bridge the gap between different communities, the corporate world, and advertising.

Also known as LOGIK, Julian Gilliam's thought process is highly influenced by systematic oppression. His work is a living projection of how he's trying to break free of oppression and gain liberation.

So far, as an art director, he has worked in the niche of film, animation, fashion, corporate advertising, and photography, etc. However, his goal is to ultimately work towards the big picture and create his own version of Disney someday.

You will often see his work portraying social, political, racial, and emotional exploitation. After all, his motive has always been to use a multitude of mediums to provide thought-provoking experiences to the public.

One of the most interesting facts about Julian Gilliam is that, unlike many other artists, he is able to understand digital and social strategies to an emotional extent. This is why he has a lot more than visual art to offer to the world of advertising and marketing.

It's imperative to note that he has had success with a number of clients, such as Nike, HP, Coca-Cola, and Bacardi.

By now, it's pretty obvious that Julian Gilliam is not only a man with a perspective but also with a plan, and his presence in the market stands witness to it. He's the man who determines what culture should or shouldn't pop. He's the man who decides how wavy the wave should get; he's definitely the man you'll find at every spot where a new culture cultivates.

In a world where every medium is filled with less than ideal and salesy content, Gilliam makes it a point to create a genuine conversation between consumers and brands. When it comes to prioritizing what he likes doing best, Gilliam puts painting on top of the hierarchy. However, making animations is also as dear to him as painting.

He wishes to use his art as propaganda that uplifts and aspires those around him in a way nothing else has been able to do in the past. In 2018, Gilliam appeared as a participant in Glappitnova, an event in Chicago that aimed to bring people from different industries together and make them showcase their talents to the audience. Among several other artists, Julian Gilliam was the one to steal the show with his creative and colorful performance.
