Octavian: UK’s Real One
Homeless in 2010, Octavian Godji was striving to make ends meet just to survive till the night. Having moved from France to South London, it wasn’t long before he was kicked out of his mother’s home – but that never crushed his spirit.
Growing up as a millennial and attending raves and the dance scene, Octavian’s own sound is a relatable, deep and resonating one, hitting home in places listeners didn’t know existed. Having spent many cold nights all by his lonesome with nothing but a hungry stomach, Octavian honed his vocals from its rawness into this smooth sound he is now associated with.
Known for his “bittersweet” grime bangers, his music is a tale of a man growing up alone. Punctuated with relationship issues and a lonely ride, homeboy Octavian is as real as can be. He’s risen out from the ashes like a phoenix, promising to deliver sound that is unique. He’s been endorsed by Drake and also worked with Mura Masa, and his new EP, Spaceman, is a tale of growth.
Here to shake up the hip-hop and R&B scene in the UK and very daring, Octavian is bound to split listeners into either loving him or hating him. But one thing will remain constant; his music is like no other, and neither is his journey. Personally, I can’t wait to see what more he’s got in store!
