Purveyor of Hood Rock
PURVEYOR OF HOOD ROCK
Hood Rock is not the latest street name for coke, but rather a sound that cooks up various genres that create a musical product that pushes music to unknown limits. The dealer of this sound is none other than the D.C. based band Black Alley, a group of musicians that revel in being painted outside of the box. V.O.Y.D. caught up with the band to discuss how they got started, their current projects and how they can continue to push the boundaries of music.
Can you give us a brief history of how you all met?
Josh: To be honest MUSIC brought us together! We all have a passion and a deep love for what we do. We see things in each other that we sometimes may not even see in ourselves! And for that, we are way more than a band. We are family! ๐ฏ๐๐พ
How did you all come up with your Hood Rock sound?
Kacey: It was actually pretty organic. All of the members of the band come from various musical backgrounds. We can do a lot, musically, and the sound came from incorporating all, or most of our influences into what we do. Energy has always been a driving force for the band as well. So, we like to play music that gets our fans moving.
Whatโs next? How do you continue to push music?
Animal: What's next is the album that should be finished very soon. We have tons of out of town dates so we'll be coming to your city OR a city near you. Look for us on all social media outlets.
